Per Medicare: Change Healthcare providers should now discontinue paper claim submissions
Now that Change Healthcare and Optum have restored their customers’ ability to electronically bill Medicare, providers should discontinue submitting paper claim forms. Electronic claim submission is the fastest option to receive payments and verify your claim was properly submitted.

Medicare reports they are also receiving duplicate claims for the same service in both electronic and paper claim formats. Providers should stop submitting the paper claims immediately as these duplicate claim submissions cause unnecessary processing delays due to system suspension of duplicative claims. In addition, the claim payment floor begins when the first claim is received – this means if you submit both a paper and an electronic claim for the same service(s) and the paper claim is received first, it will not be paid until a minimum of 29 days after receipt.

Do you have a reference for this? I spoke to our MAC (Palmetto GBA) just yesterday and they had no update and were continuing to recommend either paper claims or manually filing electronically through their portal. No mention on CMS or Change website that Medicare billing capacity is restored. 🤷‍♂️

How do we know if we are change healthcare providers?

I have been told it depends on what state you’re in
