Is Soaking in a Tub After a Workout
Helpful?

During a workout, the body builds up its inner core temperature.
The reaction of the body to a workout is inflammation. The body
responds to the inflammation by initiating a cascade of hormone
release to repair the injured tissues.
Heat immediately following a workout can slow or alter the
repair process of the body. Therefore, it is recommended that
a cool shower or bath be used after a workout. It is not recommended
for hot tubs to be used for at least an hour after your workout.
The hot tub used later after a workout should not exceed 10
minutes in order to give relaxation, yet not interfere with the
repair process.
Don’t forget that the body is most
likely dehydrated, so drink plenty of cool fluids to decrease
the core temperature and replace valuable minerals that have
been lost during your workout.
